Clinical study
Design: A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled crossover trial
Subject: 18 healthy male volunteers (24-59 years old) concerned about sleep
Groups: ETAS®50 (n=9) and placebo (n=9)
Dose and period: 300 mg/day for 14 days (7 days x 2) with 2-week washout period
Endpoints: Evaluation of sleeping quality and time through Athens Insomnia Scale (AIS), Ogura-Shirakawa-Azumi sleep inventory MA version (OSA-MA), and Actigraph analyses
Results
Compared to placebo, supplementation with ETAS50® improved the AIS score for “awakening earlier than desired” and reduced the frequency of dreaming and nightmares.
In addition, ETAS50® properly modulated night sleeping time in the subjects with above-average sleeping time.
